Hey there friends, have you every gone strawberry picking?
When I was a kid, going strawberry picking with my family was one of my favorite early summer activities. Of course that’s probably because my sister and I spent just as much time stuffing strawberries into our mouths as we did picking them 😂.
As a parent myself, I’ve only gone strawberry picking once with my kids. Mainly because I keep missing the strawberry picking season. Here where we live, strawberry picking starts in early June. And at that time, the kids are all still in school, so I’m not really into “summer mode” yet. Which basically means, I keep forgetting.
Of course as the kids have gotten older (12, 14, 17, 20, and 22) – they’re not really “in” to strawberry picking – just strawberry eating 😂. And I’ll be honest. I’m not really “in” to strawberry picking any more either. I’d rather just pay a little extra and buy pints of already-picked strawberries!
And boy are they delish!
Strawberries are one of my all-time favorite fruits (along with blueberries and raspberries), so when I saw the Stampin’ Up!’s Sweet Strawberry bundle in the new January-June 2021 mini catalogue, it immediately made my list as as “must-buy”
The Sweet Strawberry bundle includes both a stamp set and a coordinating punch.
Stampin’ Up! | Sweet Strawberry Stamp Set
The Sweet Strawberry stamp set is a two-step stamp set. Meaning that for the strawberry image, the strawberry stem, the flower and the leaf, you get two stamps. One to stamp the outline of the image, and one to stamp the inside of the image.
So for those of you who aren’t big fans of coloring, you can stamp the image in this way.
As for me, I personally LOVE colouring with my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. Which is why for today’s card, you’ll see me coloring all the images.
Stampin’ Up! | Strawberry Builder Punch
Stampin’ Up!’s Sweet Strawberry bundle also comes with a coordinating strawberry builder punch.
For my card, I decided not to use the punch. The reason for this is that when you punch out the stamped images it leaves a white border around the image. And for my card, I didn’t want a white border around my strawberries.
So, I opted to fussy cut my strawberries and the strawberry stems out. Of course I already had to fussy cut the flower and leaves image anyways, so it wasn’t a big deal.
Stampin’ Up! | Sweet Strawberry | Strawberry Thank You Card
For the strawberries on my card, I used my all time favorite combo of Stampin’ Blends: Dark Flirty Flamingo, and Light and Dark Poppy Parade. Although there is a pretty good contrast between the Light and Dark Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends colors, I find that with the addition of the Dark Flirty Flamingo as the lightest, or highlight color, you can achieve a more distinct shaded look.
Now in order to help me blend the colors well together, I use and intermediate blending technique. I’m not sure if that name is a real technique name, but I couldn’t think of anything else to call it. And it describes what I’m doing pretty well. Basically I blend two colors of Stampin’ Blends together to get an intermediate shade. And you see exactly how I do that in the video.
The other thing I tried with my card, that you don’t often see me do, is to add a soft shadow of color behind the focal area of my card. For that soft color I used Blushing Bride Classic ink and my Blending Brushes.

Stampin’ Up! Canada | Strawberry Thank You Instructions
Step 1: Score the 4 ¼” x 11″ piece of Whisper White Thick cardstock at 5 ½” and then fold it in half with your bone folder to create your card base.
Step 2: Stamp two strawberries, two stems, and the flower/leaves image onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Step 3: Color in the images using Stampin’ Blends. For the strawberries, I used Light and Dark Flirty Flamingo and Light and Dark Poppy Parade. For the stems, I used Light and Dark Shaded Spruce. For the flower/leaves, I used Light and Dark Shaded Spruce, Dark Flirty Flamingo, and the Color Lifter.
Step 4: Fussy cut the strawberries, stems, and flower/leaves, image as close to the image as possible, using paper snips.
Step 5: Stick a strawberry stem onto each of the strawberries using liquid glue.
Step 6: Add some ink to the center of the 3 â…ž” x 5 â…›” piece of Whisper White cardstock using Blushing Bride ink and an ink blending tool.
Step 7: Trim the left edge of the ½” x 4 â…œ” piece of Blushing Bride patterned paper at an angle using paper snips.
Step 8: Stick the ½” x 4 â…œ” piece of Blushing Bride patterned paper onto the Whisper White cardstock panel, about 1 ¼” up from the bottom, using double-sided adhesive.
Step 9: Trim the left and right edges of the 4″ piece of Just Jade â…œ” Gingham ribbon on an angle using ribbon scissors.
Step 10: Stick the Just Jade â…œ” Gingham ribbon onto the Whisper White cardstock panel, overlapping the Blushing Bride patterned paper strip slightly, using double-sided adhesive.
Step 11: Stick the flower/leaves image onto the Whisper White cardstock panel using liquid glue.
Step 12: Create a double loop bow, as shown in the video, from the 22″ piece of Whisper White baker’s twine. Stick the double loop bow onto the Whisper White cardstock panel using glue dots.
Step 13: Stick the two strawberries onto the Whisper White cardstock panel using Stampin’Dimensionals.
Step 14: Rub an embossing powder tool over the scrap piece of Basic Black cardstock. Stamp the greeting onto the cardstock using Whisper White Craft ink. Sprinkle white embossing powder over the greeting. Tap off the excess embossing powder. Heat this with a heat tool until the embossing powder has melted.
Step 15: Fussy cut the greeting, leaving a narrow border, using paper snips.
Step 16: Stick the greeting onto the Whisper White cardstock panel using a combination of Stampin’ Dimensionals and liquid glue.
Step 17: Center and stick the Whisper White cardstock panel onto the 4″ x 5 ¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Step 18: Center and stick the matted Whisper White panel onto the card base using double-sided adhesive.
Step 19: Embellish the card by sticking a clear gem and two sequins onto the card using a fine tip glue pen.
