Hello friends! Welcome to this brand-new series I am creating called “Card Making for Beginners.”  This series is specifically geared towards beginning stampers and card makers.  So if you’ve never stamped before, or you’ve never made a card before, you’re in the right place.

Why did I feel the need to create a series like this? Simple. When I starting looking around for beginner tutorials on how to make cards, I noticed that there was a serious lack of them. Most beginner tutorials I found were for cards that looked…well…frankly, like something a kid would’ve made.

Now please don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to be mean. After all, a hand made card, no matter how it looks, is still special because someone took the time to make it.  And I’ll let you in on a little secret. When I first started making cards, my first cards looked pretty childish.  But I didn’t know any better. And I didn’t really have anyone to walk me through the basics.

As a perfectionist and a Type A, when I give a card, it’s important to me that it be beautiful and that it doesn’t scream “home-made.” It took me years before I was able to create artisan-quality cards. If you’re a perfectionist too, and if you to want to create beautiful artisan-quality cards,  then you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s the thing. You can create beautiful, artisan-quality cards, even if you’re a new stamper or card maker.

Not only that…and this is a big one…you don’t have to own every product under the sun to do so. There are so many gorgeous card making supplies available to purchase, one could easily go broke.  And it’s so easy to get sucked into the “I really need that” frame of mind when you see the long product lists attached to most card making tutorials.

What most beginning stampers and card makers don’t realize is that the artists and crafters that are creating those tutorials have been doing it for a loooong time. That means that they have had a lot of time and opportunity to build up their stash. As a new stamper and card maker, getting your essential card making supplies together is already an investment. The last thing you need is to be buying a whole bunch more stuff that you don’t even really know how to use.

My goal in creating this “Card Making for Beginners” video tutorial series is to show you how to make beautiful, artisan-quality cards using basic card supplies.  In each tutorial, I will be sharing lots of tips and focusing on the basic techniques that every stamper and card maker should know. Tips and techniques that most tutorials don’t talk about, because it’s assumed you know them already.

As we progress through the series, I’ll be building on the techniques shown in previous videos. I’ll also be slowly introducing you to new supplies and tools.
