The Card Making for Beginners series is designed to help beginning card makers learn their way around the basic products and techniques used for making beautiful hand-stamped cards. Each video in the series goes in-depth into a variety of different beginner card making techniques. In this second card in the series, you'll learn how to step up your card by using a punch that coordinates with the Field of Flowers stamp set.
Card Making For Beginners | Card 2 Love Always Featuring Field of Flowers

Hello friends! Welcome to Card #2 of the Card Making Tutorials For Beginners series.

The second card in this series is another fun and easy, yet beautiful card that builds on the beginner stamping and card making techniques you learned in the video tutorial for Card #1: Thinking Of You.

Before I walk you through how to make this card, let’s take another look at the Field of Flowers stamp set.

Stampin’ Up! | Field of Flowers Stamp Set

Stampin' Up! Field of Flowers Stamp Set

The reason I chose this stamp set is that while it is a great stamp set for beginning stampers and card makers, it can also be used to create some gorgeous intermediate & advanced cards.

So why is it so great for beginning card makers? It’s a photopolymer stamp set with solid image stamps, which is the type of stamp set I recommend for beginning card makers and stampers.

With solid image stamps, you don’t need any special coloring skills. You simply choose an ink color, ink your stamp, and then stamp your image. Because of this, you don’t need any other supplies other than your ink colors.

Notice that this stamp set has a lot of different images and sentiments? There are 14 in all. And you can mix and match them to create a variety of different scenes for different occasions. Which you’ll see as this series progresses. And as for the greetings, I really love that there are two different font types (a clean sans-serif font and a script font), in two different sizes.

Want to know the last thing I love about this stamp set? Take a look at the top right image in the picture above.  The one that has little flowers with an outline around it.  All 6 of these flowers are on one stamp and they coordinate with the Confetti Flower Border punch shown below.

This allows you to add a whole other dimension to your cards.  And this is one of the big reasons I chose this set – because, with that punch, it’s fast and easy to step up your cards.

The border punch is super easy to use with the flowers. Once you stamp your flowers, flip the punch over so that you are looking at the back of it. Align the stamped flowers with the punch shapes, then punch. Now when punching, I recommend you carefully flip the punch over. Otherwise, your little flowers will fly everywhere if you punch with the back of the punch facing upwards.

The punch can be purchased separately or as part of a bundle. When you buy the bundle, you get 10% off the cost of buying both items separately. Note that the bundle will only be available in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020-2021 catalog.

You’ll learn how to use this punch in today’s video tutorial.
