People are feeling lonelier and more forgotten than ever in today's world of social distancing. Sending a handmade card is one of the best ways you can show someone how much you care.
Power of a Handmade Card

There is nothing more powerful than a handmade card to show someone how much you care about them.

I mean think about it.

These days, most people are so busy that it’s a challenge to make the time to find just the right card.

A special occasion rolls around….

Someone you know is hurting…

You want to say thank you…

Or you just want to reach out to someone to tell them you’re thinking about them….

What do you do?

You head to your local card store of course.

My store of choice was usually Hallmark.

First I would go to the appropriate section. Then I would scan the cards and choose the ones I liked the look of. My last step was to read the sentiments (inside and out).

This whole process often took an hour or more. Usually more.

Most of the time, rather than finding a card I loved, I ended up settling.

But then I was introduced to card making about 15 years ago.

And when I discovered how easy it was to make a beautiful card, tailored perfectly to the person I wanted to give it to…The heavens opened and I heard choirs of angels….

Okay….

Not really LOL

But let me tell you, I was pretty darn excited.

Do you know what was even better?

The response I got from the people I gave my cards to.

They were blown away!

Not because the card was a work of art.

Believe me, the first cards I created were pretty ugly.

But they were blown away because I had taken my time to make something for them.

It made them feel special. In a way that an ordinary, store-bought card never did.

Handmade Cards Show You Care

Our reality today is that we live in a very disconnected world.

We tend to live further apart from family and friends. And even when we do live close by, we’re so darn busy that it’s hard to find the time to get together.

And in this age of social distancing, even when we want to get together, we’re told we can’t.

So most of us rely on social media to stay “connected.”

But you know what? Social media only goes so far. And it’s not very far at all.

And what about the people we care about who aren’t on social media?

Study after study has found that people are feeling lonelier than ever. And forgotten.

So what can we do about it?

Send a handmade card of course.

The thought you put into it, the time you take, the effort you make…

Think about it this way – with every card you make you are essentially putting a little piece of YOU into it.

And believe me, that means A LOT to people.

Your card gives your loved ones something tangible that they can look at. Something that they can read, over and over and over again.

Every time they pick up that card, it will remind them of you.

And they will know that they are loved and cared for.

THAT my friends is the power of a handmade card.

When you make a card, your “canvas” is small. Yet it has so much creative potential.
