Two Christmas Cards - green with pine trees created using Stampin' Up!'s In The Pines Bundle

Hey there friends! Today I thought I would share some cards for those of you who are like me and tend to leave Christmas card-making to the last minute LOL. For me, these are the last of the Christmas cards that I will be creating this season.

I used two of my favourite bundles from the 2020 Holiday Mini Catalogue – the In the Pines Bundle and the Peace and Joy Bundle. The main technique featured in these cards is using embossing paste through a stencil on felt.

I have created a video tutorial for each of these cards.

  • Just Jade CS: a 4 ¼” x 11″ piece and a 4″ x 5 ¼” piece
  • Mint Macaron CS: a scrap piece
  • Shaded Spruce CS: a scrap piece
  • Whisper White Regular CS: a scrap piece
  • Brushed Gold Metallic CS: a scrap piece
  • Flowers For Every Season ribbon: a 6″ piece and a 12″ piece (Whisper White ½” Faux Linen ribbon)
  • Just Jade felt: ~ a 4″ x 4″ piece

In the Pines | Peace on Earth Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Score the 4 ¼” x 11″ piece of Just Jade cardstock at 5 ½” and then fold it in half with your bone folder to create your card base.

Step 2: Lay the polka dot stencil over a 4″ x 4″ piece of Just Jade felt. Apply Shimmery White embossing paste through the stencil and onto the felt, using a palette knife. Remove the stencil and set the felt aside to dry for at least 30 minutes.

Step 3: Die cut a circle from the center of the felt using the second largest die from the Stitched Shapes dies and a die cutting machine. You will need to run this through the die cutting machine several times for the die to cut through the felt.

Step 4: Die cut a large solid tree from a scrap piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock and a small solid tree from a scrap piece of Mint Macaron cardstock using the Pine Woods dies and a die cutting machine.

Step 5: Place a piece of adhesive sheet on the back of a scrap piece of Brushed Gold Metallic cardstock. Die cut the inner Peace greeting from the cardstock using the Joy dies and a die cutting machine. Die cut the outline Peace greeting from a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Joy dies and a die cutting machine.

Step 6: Stamp the large solid tree image onto the left side of the 4″ x 5 ¼” piece of Just Jade cardstock using Just Jade ink. Stamp the large solid tree image onto the cardstock, to the right of the first stamped tree and slightly lower, using Shaded Spruce ink.

Step 7: Dry emboss the 4″ x 5 ¼” piece of Just Jade cardstock using the Subtle 3D embossing folder and a die cutting machine.

Step 8: Dry emboss the outline Peace greeting using the Subtle 3D embossing folder and a die cutting machine. Remove the backing from the inner Peace greeting and stick it to the outline Peace greeting.

Step 9: Stick the felt circle onto the Just Jade panel using Tear & Tape adhesive. Remove the backing from the Tear & Tape adhesive and stick the felt circle to the Just Jade panel, about ⅛” in from the left and bottom edges.

Step 10: Stick the two die cut trees onto the Just Jade panel using a combination of glue dots behind the bottom of the trees and pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the top of the trees.

Step 11: Lay the 6″ piece of Whisper White ½” Faux Linen ribbon across the Just Jade panel, about ¼” up from the bottom of the cardstock. Wrap the ends around to the back of the cardstock and loosely stick them down.

Step 12: Feed a 12″ piece of Whisper White ½” Faux Linen ribbon under the ribbon on the cardstock panel and tie it into a half knot. Adjust the ends of the ribbon on the back of the cardstock panel if necessary so that the cardstock is laying flat. Secure the ends down tight. Tie the 12″ piece of ribbon into a bow. Trim the ends using paper snips. Place a glue dot under the knot on the bow and a few glue dots under the horizontal piece of ribbon to keep it from shifting.

Step 13: Center and stick the Just Jade panel onto the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Step 14: Stick the Peace greeting onto the card using glue dots behind the “P” and “e” and Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the “a”, “c”, and “e”.

Step 15: Stamp the “on Earth” greeting onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock using Just Jade ink. Fussy cut the greeting, leaving a narrow border, using paper snips.

Step 16: Stick the “on Earth” greeting onto the card using pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Step 17: Embellish the card using a few Gilded Gems. You’re done!
